Resort Profile

A sprawling, economical all-inclusive resort with an impressive list of amenities, Freeport’s Lighthouse Pointe at Grand Lucayan caters well to families. The grounds can be crowded (pre-COVID – partly because cruise ship vacationers can buy day passes), lounge chairs can be difficult to reserve, on-site dining variety is below average for an all-inclusive (there are just three restaurants), the food is just so-so, the rooms have a dated and generic hotel feel, and check-in can take awhile at peak times; but the property offers a nice beach area (despite a couple of rock jetty features), a large crescent-shaped infinity pool overlooking the ocean, a fitness center with a variety of classes (spin, multiple types of yoga, Pilates, step aerobics, and kickboxing, to name a few), a great 25,000-square-foot spa with ocean view treatments, an on-site casino, a kids club, a unique tennis center with multiple playing surfaces and night play (plus lessons), and included greens fees at the resort’s outstanding PGA-caliber golf course (The Reef Course) designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Rooms come with 400 square feet of space, private furnished balconies (with ocean, marina, or garden views), and a choice of a king or two double beds; suites are double the size at 800 square feet and have separate living areas with sleeper sofas. Activities include jet skiing, Hobie Cat sailing, kayaking, beach volleyball (on a subpar court), poolside movie nights, Sunday champagne brunches, and private four-course dinners on the beach with wine pairings. Deep sea fishing and horseback riding can also be arranged. Off-site shops and restaurants are plentiful at the Port Lucaya Marketplace just across the street.

Everyone traveling to The Bahamas must obtain a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR (swab) test taken no more than five days prior to the date of arrival. The day the test is taken is considered Day Zero. Test must return a negative result for entry into The Bahamas. Children 10 and under are not required to take a test. Negative PCR test results must be uploaded in order to complete a Bahamas Health Visa application, and must be presented upon arrival in The Bahamas.
