Resort Profile

Refurbished in December 2018, this Grand Sirenis property caters well to families with the “Aquagames” water park and a good selection of activities. Timeshare sales pitches can annoy, the food is mediocre at best, some guests complain about the check-in process and general service, and the restaurants require long pants for men (and reservations); but the resort offers excellent dining variety (7 restaurants and 10 bars), a good beach, a nightclub, a casino, a kids club, a small spa with beachside massages, two great swim-up bars, a fairly large fitness center, and a multi-sport court (basketball and soccer). The resort comprises two sections – the Cocotal Beach section and the Tropical Suites (it was formerly two separate hotels); while somewhat basic, the recently renovated rooms have a minimalistic, peaceful vibe, and are quite nice for the price. The water park is one of the largest in the Caribbean; with a variety of large, impressive water slides, it’s great for both kids and parents. Other activities include live shows, scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, tennis, archery, kayaking, beach volleyball, darts, and dance classes.

Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are available on-site for guests traveling back to the United States. In the event of a positive test, guests can extend their stay at the resort for up to 14 days at no additional cost.
