With two massive swimming pools and a nice beachfront (besides some seaweed, which can be common in the area) with water sports, Playa del Carmen’s BlueBay Grand Esmeralda is a decent Riviera Maya economy all-inclusive option. The rooms are basic and fairly dated and the on-site restaurants fail to impress; but the property offers excellent cuisine variety, an on-site spa, a fairly good fitness center, an entertainment team that organizes activities throughout the day, and a relaxing overall atmosphere. Beach volleyball, jet skiing, sailing, kayaking, scuba diving, and banana boat rides are available right on the beach.
Guests returning to the United States are eligible for complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests on-site, prior to departure.
